About Chelsee Albo
Connecting to the Healing Power of the Natural World
After practicing as a Registered Nurse in Canada for ten years, Chelsee encountered serious health challenges including mold toxicity, food sensitivities, and severe intestinal permeability. She was able to repair both her gut and mood using principles from functional medicine and neuroscience. She rekindled a passion for vegetable and medicinal herb gardening, and continues to learn to commune with these great teachers. She believes so strongly in these practices that she now supports others on the same path.
Chelsee moved from Vancouver to Dallas with a three-month-old baby strapped to her chest in 2018. She is of Indigenous, Celtic, and Southern European ancestry, and believes wholeheartedly in animism and the power of plants. She is passionate about food sovereignty and social justice, and believes health should be accessible to all.
“May we remember our ancestral ways and reciprocity with the earth”
Chelsee is currently a member in good standing with the Institute for Functional Medicine and completed her IFMCP Certification in 2021. Chelsee is licensed as a Registered Nurse with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
What brought her to functional medicine?
IIronically, working for over a decade in the allopathic health care system, Chelsee was not able to reach optimal wellness. Allopathic medicine is absolutely amazing for trauma, urgent care, and life-threatening critical illness. We are truly blessed to have these technologies. However, this system has much room for growth in the management and prevention of slow-progressing, chronic illness. After years of watching revolving door and band-aid approaches, and seeing little care paid to nutritional needs of clients, Chelsee knew there had to be more available.
Once Chelsee found functional medicine, her spark for healthcare was rekindled. It was the first time she had seen a medical model truly emphasizing the importance of nutritional, lifestyle, and mental/emotional/spiritual factors as essential keys to wellness. This aligned deeply with her values, and she is committed to using principles from this path to support others.
We are only beginning to scratch the surface of the significance of the microbiome in relation to our overall health and wellness. We are literally more microbe than human in terms of our DNA content. Our specific ancestry and epigenetics are also crucial to understand and integrate, which can be more thoroughly assessed working together.
It is critical that our pursuit of optimal health and longevity begin with understanding our integral connection to nature. Just like the soils are rich with organisms, so is our gut. Just like all things are connected in nature, so are we.
Please consider seeing Chelsee to help you outline and implement a diet and lifestyle that will support your healing and healthiest life. Working with diet and lifestyle is a very effective and cost-efficient way to make major health shifts and overcome chronic challenges.
May we each find healing and joy that is our birthright. It is within every one of us.
