About Chelsee Albo
Health Challenged to Promoting Vibrant Health
Chelsee Albo graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing from the University of Calgary in 2008 and began her journey at the Emergency Department in beautiful Banff, Alberta. She continued to a multi-system trauma and postoperative surgery uint, then high acuity specializing in burns/trauma/plastics in Vancouver, British Columbia. Subsequently, she worked in community case management for clients with complex and chronic health needs and palliative medicine.
With a three-month-old baby strapped to her chest, Chelsee moved from Vancouver, Canada to practice with Integrative Wellness Rx.
Chelsee is currently a member in good standing with the Institute for Functional Medicine and is scheduled to complete IFMCP certification November 2020. Chelsee is licensed as a Registered Nurse with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
What brought her to functional medicine? Honestly? Health challenges.
Ironically, working for over a decade in a publicly funded, accessible health care system, Chelsee was not able to reach optimal wellness. After years of night shifts and haphazard meals, she experienced digestive symptoms, mood changes, and the repercussions of living in a mold-toxic environment. She also watched friends, family members, and colleagues struggle with similar challenges, unable to find healing. While this system is excellent for acute injuries, it has room for growth in the management and prevention of chronic illness.
Then on a trip south of the 49th parallel, Chelsee found functional medicine. It was the first time she had seen a medical model legitimately recognize the importance of nutrition, lifestyle, and botanicals from a scientific literature point of view. After obtaining advanced lab work, she committed to this path, which would be the path to healing herself.

Chelsee began to study the significance of the microbiome and gut barrier integrity. She is absolutely fascinated by the web of connections between each organ system and levels of intestinal permeability.
The research has exploded over the last ten years, and we are only beginning to scratch the surface of the significance of the microbiome on our overall health and wellness. We are literally more microbe than human in terms of DNA content.
If you are committed to healing, let’s connect to see if working together feels like a good fit.
